Democratic principles

The revolution’s most significant achievement was the establishment of the Republic and its government built on high democratic principles, unity and equal representation of all nationalities within its institutions. The insurgent headquarters assumed control of the military forces. The Council of the Republic served as the highest civilian governing body, comprising sixty distinguished individuals of various nationalities. From this council, a Provisional Government of six members was elected, with Dinu Vangeli as its president. Each member of the government held responsibility for a specific sector: judiciary, finance, security, requisition, food, and sanitation.
