The parts, the barrel and the mechanism of the „Lützen“ front-loaded cavalry pistol are deeply corroded. The barrel of the weapon that was externally octagonally faceted along the full length of 56.5 cm before the corrosion is visible. Literature has often referred to the mechanism of this type of a gun as a „peg mechanism“, and less often a „winding mechanism“, a term that indicates the principle of operation of the assembly that is complex and looks like a clock.
