Donation from the family of Svetlana Hristova – Jocikj

The family of the poetess Svetlana Hristova-Jocikj donated an extensive personal fund to the NI Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence and it becomes part of the museum fund.

Family members have gladly donated part of their personal collection of items to the museum, where this material will be properly stored and presented. After several working meetings with the director of the museum, Daniela Nikolova, the famous fine artist, Sergej Andreevski, son of the poetess Svetlana Hristova-Jocikj, gladly accepted the initiative to be part of the families who will permanently personal funds to the museum collection with objects that will be part of the museum display.

The material has been classified into several categories: personal documents and objects such as diplomas, awards, recognitions, essays, personal manuscripts.


Macedonian poet, essayist and writer Svetlana Hristova – Jocikj was born in Resen on February 27, 1941, and died in Skopje on April 27, 2012. She was a Macedonian poet, essayist and writer for children. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. For a long time she worked as a journalist at Radio Skopje. She was the secretary and president of Macedonian Writers Society  and the initiator and editor-in-chief of the “Stozher” magazine.

She was a member of the Macedonian PEN Center and the Macedonian Writers Society. She is the winner of the “Miladinovci Brothers” award.
